@Printdevil @Taskerland Their main bod has major CFS and, I suspect, the sort of depression that combines with that to produce "I just can't today" for months at a time. I sympathise, I sometimes get a bit that way myself, but I'm not trying to run a business or promising product any day now. When Kickstarter briefly had a rule that you can't run project N+1 until you've delivered project N, I was one of the people who reported them.
It's a shame, they had good authors, but I think they should admit their bankruptcy. We all know it's coming, and endless petty fundraisers and empty promises don't make them look any better (or do anything for their stress).

@RogerBW I think there was someone else involved before and she crashed the entire thing into the side of a mountain. They evidently set up the company to manage the debt and protect themselves from the bankrupcy. They had an author who was also a company director and evidently still capable of producing stuff and he left last year, taking notes of existing projects with him. @Printdevil

@RogerBW @Printdevil @Taskerland I am endlessly grateful they didn't get follow up on the offer to publish Perishing and I ended up doing it myself.

@Taskerland @Printdevil as I understand it that original person is still involved, just not formally; the new people are her friends. Every so often one of them burns out and is accused of all sorts of unprofessional behaviour, and someone new comes in.

As Vazh is feeling burnt out it's probably time to suggest he monetizes his hobby.

Just had a look at the financials of Stygian Fox. They have a Patreon that nets them Β£500 a month for which they have produced 3 NPCs and a short adventure in the last 9 months.

Meanwhile, between 2024 and 2025 they went even further into debt (now nearing Β£30k) despite liquidating assets.

                  All going well then.

@Taskerland it’s a shame as their early works were great.

@Tim_Eagon Yeah... their first collection was really good but most of the stuff that followed has been poor, even by the standards of third party Call of Cthulhu.

@Tim_Eagon @Taskerland Yeah, went into this thread with "what's up with them" because I picked up Things We Left Behind a couple months ago because it specifically hit the exact type of modern age call of Cthulhu I know one of my players wants.

@squishymage42 @Tim_Eagon That is their famous one. I came across a lot of their other words before getting to that one as I wasn't running contemporary Cthulhu at the time. Now that I have the full picture I realise that they started really strongly and then went down-hill.

@Taskerland how did you inspect their financials? Are the publicly available in the UK somewhere?

@AndreasDavour Yeah... if you google them, they come up. Companies here have to make their financials public.
