Trump mocks trans folks to prime minister with nonbinary kid

I agree that Microsoft and Google are difficult to get rid of.
I haven’t yet decided what I’m going to do in this regard. Good luck friend.
There’s alternatives, protonmail, NorthMail, lots of non-google search engines, I need to find an alternative to google drive.

I’m not remotely a fan, but he has done some good things. Recognizing the state of Palestine might not be a game changer, but it’s a good start. The across the board military pay rise was absolutely needed and has done a lot to improve morale and retention in the CAF. The CRA will have automatic tax filing for low-income Canadians from next year onward. We finalised a trade and defence deal with Indonesia, the fifth (I think) most populous country in the world. Most recently, the government has put in a challenge to the supreme court to try to limit the powers of the notwithstanding clause, which if successful could really help to constrain the ways its being abused by people like Ford and Smith (they’re already bitching about this at the top of their lungs, which is all the proof you need that it’s a good thing). Still gonna vote NDP, but I always like to give credit when it’s due.
A lot of those are baby steps so small, it’s frustrating. But I get what you mean. At least it’s in the right direction.

Domestically? Yes.
Internationally, we’re not Britain letting the Nazis build up, we’re fucking Czechoslovakia just praying they don’t decide to take the Sudetenland. The EU is probably Britain in this analogy, and the Soviets are, like, China.

I’m convinced they are planning some sort of annexation/invasion anyway. They’ll just find a reason at some point. It can be anything. We have water and plenty of natural resources that would be good for American billionaires to own.
Just look at what Trump requires of Ukraine in order to help them. They’re gonna make some bullshit up, like our resources are critical to their national security, or something like that. It’s good to delay this as much as possible and not antagonize them - maybe they’ll be busy invading Venezuela or Mexico first - but it’s probably going to happen regardless.
They didn’t lose any time. It’s been a while now they’ve complained of drugs entering the US from Canada.

On paper. We don’t need his assent for anything. And if we did we have the Gov. Gen.
We need his assent for any law to be adopted, federal or provincial.

And we have the Gov. Gen. for that.

President Donald Trump mocked transgender people in front of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, whose child identifies as nonbinary, during an Oval Office meeting in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday that was intended to focus on trade relations but instead became a showcase of Trump’s familiar culture war politics.
The meeting, held in the presence of reporters, aimed to emphasize renewed cooperation between the two countries, which remain deeply economically intertwined. But as The Independent reported, it “devolved into a political rally disguised as a routine press availability.” Trump repeatedly veered off topic to attack Democrats, the media, and transgender people, boasting that under his leadership, “We have strong borders. We have no men in women’s sports. We’re not going to take your child away and change the sex of your child.”
Hey, maybe this will cause him to recognize that the US is no longer safe for LGBTQ people. Which could then help open up a pathway for queer people, especially trans and non binary people, to escape before they start rounding us up.
Wishful thinking, I know, but this bitch needs to try and remain hopeful somehow.

Yes… who represents the Crown.

Yes… who represents the Crown.
Who is a nominal figure head. The actual monarch hasn’t had a REAL ROLE since the charter.

I’m very aware of the email alternatives.
My problem isn’t with email, it’s literally every other service that I log into using my Google/Microsoft accounts.
Drive is one of those…

You can vote for the left-of-conservative candidate most likely to win in your district.
And in districts where the conservative candidate has no chance of winning, you can vote with your heart.
My area is pretty heavily conservative. I think this riding has been won by the conservatives on every election for at least 10 years.

I’m disappointed in Carney but admittedly don’t have enough info to fully justify feeling that yet. There’s a lot of nuance at that level and it does seem like Carney is shifting our interests to other markets.
My hope is he’s stringing the US along while he makes changes, basically like setting up a place to live and work before ending an abusive relationship. I understand that cutting ties completely would cripple our economy so that’s not an option, just gonna wait for the end of his first year before I really make my opinion.
I was shown this link in another post that clearly shows the trade changes Carney has been working on. It’s well put together: https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/features/2025/canada-international-trade/
Hey, that’s really neat!
I wish it included a combined whole world graph, though. 6% or whatever drop in US trade sounds small, but that’s such a huge market for us, while even a sliver more trade with, I dunno, Cameroon will amount to a big jump. I don’t know whether it’s going up or down overall.
