They conceived Teams because Slack and others were probing a move into the office productivity space, threatening the Office monopoly. So it was tossed in for extremely cheap to insulate Office customers against considering Slack. In other words, it’s a “warm body” piece of software. It doesn’t need to do anything but exist enough to satisfy some office suits. It should have honestly triggered a stronger anti-trust respond.
