    A lot of people on the #Fediverse assume that the social communities on these platforms could simply reform on the Fediverse. But this isn't going to happen. When a social platform crashes, its social communities are usually gone permanently.

    I mean, I made the decision to leave Twitter, but I do miss a lot of the awesome people there whom I interacted with. And for others, the loss would be _far_ more acute.

    So instead of being moralistic about ordinary users on other platforms, we should work harder to build awesome communities here - hopefully ones that are more diverse than what the Fediverse has right now.

      Indeed. “If you build it, they will come” still demands that you build it, first. And it’s not the technology that needs to be built. It’s not the technology that got people onto Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram in the first place.
