Why doesn’t the roommate’s lover visit instead?

Also, you may have fucked up the pronouns unless they go by both he and she.

Unless it’s their lover in the USA that is trans?

Not sure how much of an asylum that is in a decade given our close proximity and similar culture rot.

Canada was one of the few countries to see LGBT acceptance increase.

It’s a Nexus card, not a Nemaleus card or a Nefemaleus car.

USA is just bursting at the seams with intolerance and abject cowardice. What a clown car country.

And speaking of cowardice, unfortunately for us Canadians, our own government is just rolling over.

One of my kids is developing into a wonderful person who is not cis gendered. This type of news only makes me want to change my marker to X. If more of us could agree to do this, regardless of our personal gender, then gender conformity wouldn’t even be a thing.

Well in 'murica it still would be.

Yep I am seriously considering doing this now also. AFAIK the X means ‘unspecified’ so it’s not as if a cis person using it is somehow appropriating an identity, right? That was my main hesitation

His lover is trans, you could assume good faith you know instead of being so aggressive with language policing.

              She does, they take turns.

The Americans are helping us distance ourselves from them daily with tariffs. In 10 years will we even see American movies and other cultural media in Canada?

I do hope you’re right but I’m also planning for the worse outcome just in case.

There are more than he/him/his and she/her/hers pronouns. Maybe they use they/them/theirs or some other set of pronouns.

I wouldn’t view it as appropriation. Do what you want

Sorry, I didn’t intend for my comment to be rude. I was trying to mean “fuck up” in a casual rather than aggressive meaning though I can see why it comes off differently. I.e. it was supposed to be a slightly less child friendly variant of “screw up” and more akin to the (basically nonexistant) rudeness of something like “wtf”.

Fair enough that they take turns, I didn’t think of that. Still, it would probably be smart to change this though they both are probably aware of this.

I’m not terribly sure how much that is going to matter given the current disposition of most of us towards American bullshittery, and by that I mean to say that bureaucratic cowardice might play into their hands, but the people of Canada aren’t going to.

I also still have enough faith in our version of the democratic process to believe that if the current government’s posture was (or becomes) wholly incongruent with that of the body politic, we’d rearrange it next election. The fact is that Carney’s professed positions, at the time of the election at least, were aligned with ours moreso than the angry guy who lost his seat. I’m certainly less than impressed with what’s taken place since, but don’t know what I should have expected. This season’s script has been all over the place and the writing is awful.

Reflecting on this all, maybe the takeaway is that subconsciously, who I expected better from was the Americans, and that ought to be a lesson and a loud wake up call to us all.

This new rule violates the human rights of trans and non-binary people. That’s not something that is up for a majority vote. Human rights are non-negotiable, yet our government is not treating them as such.
