Carney laments Pride 'backlash' and rolls out money to make 2SLGBTQ+ parades safer | CBC News

Prime Minister Mark Carney raised a Pride flag on Parliament Hill Tuesday to kick off a month-long celebration of sexual and gender diversity while saying there's a brewing "backlash" to these sorts of celebrations and federal money is needed to help make 2SLGBTQ+ parades safe this year.

Not surprising since one of his kids is enby and he seems to actually care about being a good parent. Still nice to see and hear, though.

I can criticize the decisions he’s taking and how the bills introduced by his government contain some concerning stuff, but as a person he’s good.

Carney is a good guy, and I am happy he is our countries leader.

Do you think his cutting the “generational fairness” capital gains taxes was good, while he is simultaneously ballooning the debt?

I’m not terribly happy about Carney, because we all saw how this ends with Trudeau Sr to Chretien, I just wish the NDP wasn’t co-opted by a corporatist slaver like Singh. Unfortunately the left leaning social policy doesn’t really help the poor economically, so we may just have another wave of conservativism like we had prior to Trudeau dropping out.

“One of the strengths of Canada is recognizing that people can be who they want to be and love who they want to love. The federal government — we are the defenders of those rights,” Carney said.

That’s what I want to hear. Good on him. But the election results showed a swing to the right across the board, and we all need to keep working to reverse that trend so we don’t see these rights taken away in a few years’ time.
