Give them Austria or some European country that participated in the Nazi side of the WW2 conflict as reparations for the Holocaust.

Instead colonial powers of the world gave a land that already had a population with mixed ethnicity to a minority in that area, then armed them and backed them to take everything from the majority.

Do they not have historical and religious connections to the land of Israel with roots dating back thousands of years?

They were occupants of that land before and during the same time as the Arabs.

Oh really? All the European descendants who moved there and the currently living fascist Israeli government lived there at the same time as “the Arabs” (who as we all know are a single unified people). My bad that definitely excuses a Western military backed European settlement being declared on land where people already existed, propping up an apartheid ethnostate.

I’d make a comparison to the indigenous peoples of North and South America, but unfortunately we Canadians genocided them so hard that a foreign power can’t declare Ontario to be theirs and allow people from all over the world claiming indigenous heritage to come settle here and get treated as a higher caste with additional rights and privileges.

Hey moron: why were they fleeing Europe if they had no ties

They lived there for a long time before the Holocaust

You’re absolutely correct. Canada is not pursuing Palestinian statehood recognition. This statement was the second strongly worded statement against Israel that doesn’t contain any specific actions or steps.

But oh boy, wait until warning #3 comes out! I hear it will be even more strongly worded and still have absolutely zero concrete plans or consequences!

Al Jazeera is reporting that Macron asked the UK and Canada to join France in recognising Palestinian statehood but neither were willing.

Obviously I very much hope that we do, but I agree, the above tweet does not indicate that we’re about to do so.

Someone explain this to me: https://iris.org.il/images/israel-and-arab-world.gif

All the countries in yellow are Arab.

The little tiny slice in the middle in blue is Jewish and in that blue even the West Bank and Gaza are part of that blue island and are mostly occupied by the Arabs.

And these Arab nations believe that the Israel should not belong to the Jews and some (strongly) believe they should be wiped off the earth.

Why? Why is not the 99% of that land that belongs to the Arabs not enough for them?

Where are the Jews supposed to go?

The Palestinian people have a right to self-determination.

Go deny genocide and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights somewhere else.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that his country plans to recognise the State of Palestine at the United Nations.

In a Friday post on X, Carney stated: “Canada supports a two-state solution which guarantees peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians.” He added that Ottawa “will work intensively in all fora to further that end, including through the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the UN High-Level Conference on a Two-State Solution in New York next week.

The Prime Minister also said that Canada condemns the Israeli government’s failure to prevent the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian adisaster in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron declared his intention to recognise the State of Palestine in September 2025.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the move, saying that the establishment of a Palestinian state would pose a threat to Israel’s security.

Meanwhile, the Hamas movement welcomed Macron’s intention to recognise Palestine during the UN General Assembly in September.

Hamas described the move as a positive step in the right direction towards justice for the oppressed Palestinian people and support for their legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on all of its occupied territory, with Jerusalem as its capital.

This dosent change jack shit. UN memberships have to be approved by all the perminent members of the security council and the US is a perminent member of said council. And in the UN the US always does what Israel tells them to.

If I remember correctly last year there was a vote on palistine becoming a member and the only countires that voted no was the US and Israel but palistine is still not a member because Israel told the US to block it.

That’s been the official position forever. Canada wants a Palestinian state, but it’s not recognizing one yet. Basically they put out a nothing statement and people are thinking it’s something new.

The craziest thing about Carney is that he’s plotting to defund the CBC by 15%, according to https://thedeepdive.ca/carneys-spending-review-order-makes-cbc-brace-for-15-budget-cut/

I don’t know if you’ll find devil advocates willing to entertain such a hyperbolic frame of reference.

There are people out there who also think that Arabs should be wiped off the earth, but I don’t think it’s worth asking why. Makes more sense to shun those people off than giving them space for discourse.

Canadian Jews have a safe, democratic country that cherishes them and wants them to thrive and that country is called Canada.

If you’re asking about Israeli Jews, your answer is the same in principle as for any other ethno-religious group in the Levant (Druze, Maronite, Sunni, Antiochian, Alawite, Shia, Beduin, Kurdish etc). There is nothing cosmically special or exceptional about Jewish people, as there is nothing cosmically special or exceptional about Alewites. To claim so would be pure antisemitism. So what should they do? Play nice with the other communities, and build a plurinational, inclusive democratic state with equal rights for all people of all and of no sects. The Jews don’t deserve anything more or anything less than any other levantine ethnicity/religious group. Human Rights and Democracy for all.

Edit: or some sort of balkanization I guess. Small homegeneous statelets at the mercy of bigger powers. Meh. Democracy is better.

Just like Trump is friends with…oh right…Putin and Epstein. Wait not the same thing 🙂 “I have the best friends, the most beautiful friends, oh yes…when you hear about my friends you’re gonna love it”

All the countries in yellow are Arab.
