If the NDP press hard on these types of motions to materially improve the lives of Canadians they’re going to go far next elections. They need more marketing for their win on dental care. That was 100% them and they’re not getting the credit they deserve when the media talks about it.

The media will never be supportive of the NDP.

Not unless they get another Jack Layton type person, then maybe if they become the opposition or maybe the official government.

Exactly. Get someone that catches people’s interest. Then the news will be all over them.

The NDP (and us) need a left-left of centre to draw in those who believe in a social democracy and will fight tooth and nail for it.

That would preclude having anyone like Jack, who had moved the party closer to centre before his death.

They had Mulcair, a great and charismatic speaker with a penchant for dunking on Harper in the house, from the ‘right’ region of Canada. They went another way.

Not until the NDP or unions buy or build their own media outlets.

For what it’s worth, the NDP have not earned back the good graces of leftist publications and social media personalities either.
