Ten years after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Canada is moving backwards

As resource-extraction bills are forced through without First Nations' consent, what happened to the ‘national reckoning’ with the country’s colonial legacy?

Canada is geopolitically and economically cornered in a world that’s been spiraling into global conflict since 2020 and suddenly aggressive trade policies from our closest allies.

At some point this was always going to happen. There’s going to be a rise in indigenous vs government conflict. Because the national economy can’t wait any longer. It’s approaching a do or die phase and the government has shockingly. Chosen that its not just going to roll over and die.

Economic development and Indigenous rights aren’t mutually exclusive - the most succesful projects actually involve meaningful partnership rather than this false “do or die” narrative that just perpetuates colonial thinking.

Oh screw of with colonial thinking. Natives are no better then Europeans they are not the environmental stewards. We are all humans and in general humans are pretty shitty.
