We played Pathfinder 2 on Saturday and it was fun, but I had trouble keeping track of the details because we had a front moving through and sometimes that makes me really tired. Here's what I recall - we had to do a bunch of skill checks. This is something about Pathfinder 2 that none of us really enjoy - there is usually at least one section of an adventure path where you have to earn points by making weird skill checks. You can't really role-play them (or at least, that is not how our DM runs them), so it's just "roll this very specific knowledge skill which has an achievable DC" but we can't. Because none of us are trained in that skill, usually because we've never heard of it before, and will never use it again. OR it's "roll a skill that you actually have, but you had better be legendary because the number you need is ridiculously high."Sometimes the player's guide will tell you what the One Weird Skill you will need is (it's usually some kind of Lore), but in this case we ran into one that no one remembered ever being mentioned. Why would we ever have taken it? But even on the skills we had, it just wasn't our night.I'm very good at religion. I rolled a one on the relevant check (a one is a terrible roll, and means I failed). That's the kind of night we were all having, really. The fighter is very good at survival, and rolled a two. And there was something where the Champion rolled a 19 and just barely succeeded. I mean, the difficulty for making these checks is not calibrated properly At All.But we got through the encounters that we generated, we infiltrated the tower reasonably smoothly, and we rescued the guy we were supposed to retrieve. Someone even managed to get in the line "Aren't you a little short for a storm trooper?" when we were doing the rescue. So that was funny.#Pathfinder2e #ttrpg
