@Doppelganger75 Provinces and states are not tradeable like hockey players. The last time US states tried to secede, there was a civil war.

@atomicpoet As an Albertan, I find this both utterly unsurprising, and yet still offensive. What it isn't, is worrisome, at least not any more so than Trump's other threats to Canada's sovereignty. There's just no way that our separatist clowns are getting anywhere near the 170K signatures they need to trigger a referendum, and no way for them to win even if they could. 70% against! This is just another Team Trump attempt at distracting from the real question: where *are* the Epstein files?

Polls show the American public is sick of his antics and has no appetite for war, especially with Canada. He'll be irrelevant soon, and there's nobody else on the horizon with his particular ability to captivate the dumb masses.

Trump didn’t chicken out of Greenland. He left the matter alone for now. He can choose to invade at a later time.
And you say Trump will be irrelevant soon. But what if he’s not? What if decides to run as Vice-President, then take on the role of President after JD Vance resigns?

@atomicpoet I don't think the military commanders, who mostly can't stand draft-dodger Trump (or media pretty-boy Hegseth) will stand for it, but I certainly don't have all the answers. What do you suggest?

But as a Canadian, we need to invest in our military, diversify our trade, and prepare for the possibility that the US will attempt to annex us.
While we’re at it, we need to stay vigilant, spurn Fascism, and build a model for an actual functioning democracy.
