One of my oldest and best friends posted a hell of an account of life in Minneapolis right now.

This whole thing rings so true. “A series of snapshots,” she says — and every one of us here is accumulating our own heavy stack of such snapshots.

@inthehands not a mental health professional here.

I've read that experiencing events as a series of snapshots or discrete scenes is a telltale sign of war trauma.

Just in case anyone outside of your area things "oh how cute they're getting scrapbooks of memories" - no, this is what happens when the brain is highly stressed and searing some memories indelibly while suppressing retention of others, because knowing where the potentially lethal threat is coming from must be retained, and other memory production is impaired (possibly as a survival mechanism to later have less conscious trauma to process).

@inthehands solidarity to you, your friend & anyone in the so-called US right now
i am across the big pond feeling the same horror watching it all unfold. here we face similar fascist behaviour from our government which is sucking up to frump & co without hesitation as we are economically & militarily heavily relying on the so-called US, as well as actively participating in genocide & warcrimes, even here locally

all anyone can do is what you and your neighbours do, to the best of your ability
