@aeduna Or how many times I saw folks telling people to use the real world fears and phobias of their players against them in the game to spark "emotional" roleplaying.

@SJohnRoss Well there was some really good advice back then as well. But some folks, especially those leaning into certain popular horror games a bit to much, really offered up some of the worst.

@SJohnRoss @peteramthor There's a huge range from "i'm putting stuff in that many people find upsetting" into a horror product to "I'm using my knowledge of your particular trauma to bring it up in game" in our weekly game

@SJohnRoss I ran a lot of Kult back then and even I shook my head at a lot of other people. They didn't seem to get the idea of there being a difference between running a good engaging horror game and making your players hate you and the experience.

@SJohnRoss I can see that. Guess everyone was going after the money maker at the time which just happened to be horror. Just like the last decade or so we've seen many 'weird fantasy' folks gleefully leaping into edgelord territory.
