    #DnD advice: Character death can be rough on an adventuring party. It would be callous to take on a new traveling companion and replace your fallen comrade right away, even if they are played by the same player who wants to get back into the game.

      There are definitely styles of campaign where that would actually be good advice. (Accompanying more straightforward advice: if a player has nothing to do for a while, letting them play a more involved NPC can help them still be in the game.)
