If you saw the murder of Alex Pretti & have NOT changed your mind about resistance, I have good news:
You're one of us.
If you've been talking about "resistance" but are now going "I didn't think there was going to be any risk for me," think about that for a bit & ask yourself what you thought resistance was.
You do not need to be eager to die. I fucking hope you're eager to live! We need you, & your life is precious.
But if you know you're not backing out, I'm so glad you're with us.
We do not need martyrs. We do not need you to throw your life away. We're in it for the long haul. We need everyone we can get, & we should all be trying to stay alive.
You do not need to be fearless either. In fact, fear can be a good thing.
You do not need to be a hero.
But we do need you. As long as you know that there are some risks worth taking for love & freedom, that's all we need.

Resistance takes many forms, but it's never risk free.
Even if all you do is share factual information, in a fascist regime that could be fucking dangerous as hell.
So not being sure you could be on the street doing what you see some other people doing right now does not mean you're not brave enough to help.
But you've gotta know, there is nothing you can do to "resist" that will not expose you to any danger at all, & if you've been lying to yourself about that, stop.

I think some people who used to be loud about "resistance" are about to get quieter & meeker as the risks increase.

@artemis we have been trying to build our resistance bus but we have been trying to build our support network but struggling and we are dedicated with no turning back

You do not need to be fearless.
If you are sitting here right now thinking "I'm fucking scared & I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be able to do," I think that's fucking fine.
...as long as you're also thinking "but I want to figure out what I can do to help make this stop."
I'm not a fucking hero. I can't honestly say for sure what I might do in certain scenarios. I do know that I have no intention of giving up or giving in. Seeing scary, horrible shit happen only makes me more resolved.
I don't fucking know what I will be called upon to do, but I do know that whatever it is it could be costly.
I'm not borrowing trouble from the future, & I'm not planning on getting hurt, but I have to tell myself that there are risks I may have to take & costs I may have to pay.

@Kuniti_shino
Good to hear, comrade! We aren't fearless, but we are fucking determined.

I dont thinks its possible to not have a bit of gut fear about any of this, and thats okay. I think sometimes its overstated how brave you need to be when a lot of it is instinctual in the moment. Facing a moment you dont want to for all the awful possibilities - hard, swimming through a moment you are in and have some prior consciousness/training/practice/experience swimming through - happens too fast for fear.

I'm not especially a hero either. I'm always terrified before and after an action.
Before an action is scarier than during, in my experience. During is mostly just confusing.

@artemis
Heck, even with as little as I can think of to do to advance the cause of actually getting us *out* of this... I *can* think of at least two directly resistance-related things I can do with this food stockpile, and one way to merely survive a potential danger ahead. (And if none of that comes up... well, natural disasters, right?) And my building that up *is* because of being utterly terrified of what was going to happen.
