my idea to convert the first final fantasy game into a ttrpg campaign has taken on a whole new form and i'm excited for it ^^

i'll be combining it with the dnd adventure "Princes of the Apocalypse" which also has a strong 4 elements theme ^^

i've wanted to run pota for a long long time now too. had a rough experience with it years ago due to a bad gm, so i'll be reclaiming this adventure for myself ^^

this franken-adventure will likely end up as a #pf2e campaign.

so far i've mostly done worldbuilding. i'll set this in an original world of my creation and have very much been enjoying remixing locations from both sources into something new ^^

and i've actually thought about world history and politics too, which is a first for me xD

looking forward to doing more work on this ^^

Heck, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the original FF's story were inspired in part by the original Temple of Elemental Evil. (The module that first featured these ideas, The Village of Hommlet, was published in 1979; later, in 1985, this was expanded into a one-volume adventure path, The Temple of Elemental Evil. Long after FF, there was a 3.0 module set 12 years later, Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. PotA has lineage!)

@pteryx i've been wondering how much ff1 is inspired by dnd in general, with the spell slots in the original version and bosses like the lich ๐Ÿค”

guess it just makes sense to slap these two together ^^

Heck, FF1 in particularly originally ran afoul of some copyrights of TSR's. The "eyes" looked more like beholders in the original Japanese version, for example. To avoid trouble in the future, SE created two different creatures with beholder inspiration, ahrimans and malboros.

Also of note are couerls, clearly inspired by displacer beasts, which were ripped off from a creature from a sci-fi novel known as... the couerl.
