How do people go about finding whatever server they feel at home at?

I've been on mas.to at the start, then went to mastodon.art for a while which was nice, but i felt like i didn't fit in there either.

Now i'm back here, which feels too big for me, i don't enjoy scrolling on the local timeline much.

What trick do people use to find their homes?

@beppev Back in 2022, when I first made my account, many people who were writing tabletop games and about tabletop games, who I had followed on Twitter were going to the same server, and I followed.

Maybe, if your local timeline isn't appealing, take a look through who you're following and if a large portion are congregated on a specific server?

@squishymage42 Thank you for the tip! I feel like my following list maybe isnt big enough or too diverse. I was never too much into twitter or bsky so i just searched for topics and started following people related to those at random.

@beppev That's honestly how I'd developed my following list on Twitter over a decade, just following someone here or there as they were boosted by someone I was already following, or as I came across their stuff other places.
