Them: Star Trek was never woke before.

The bad thing about the first image, for those who don't remember the end, is the two were allowed back onto their planet. One the hunter. The other the hunted.
In the closing scene one of them killed the other, simply because they were different.
Woke, definitely, but without solutions.

@numb_comfortably I can hardly think of any series/franchise that ran this long and has been this open-minded from the very beginning. Star Trek has always told stories about people from all kinds being tolerant to each other.

@numb_comfortably I just watched the first two episodes of Starfleet Academy. THEY will sooooo much hate it!

Maybe because we have to find a solution by ourselves? Each one? At every step of the way? #ThinkingOutLoud -

@numb_comfortably Star Trek is and was always impressively woke: absolutely tuned to empathy and decency, and addressing moral issues. This is one of its great achievements.

I'm constantly reminded of that screenshot making the rounds in which a bright fella angrily declares his dislike for Rage Against the Machine "now that they have gone woke".WTF? Where you listening? Where you watching?
The music, the show: none of it has been retconned.
The former fans just find themselves in the role of the villains, and suddenly the music and the show "are no longer what they used to be".
No, bro: you've changed for the worse!

@numb_comfortably That last screenshot. if a klingon can. A human should be able to, i think.

@floreana they never seem to listen to the lyrics. They played "Born in the USA" and "We will rock" you as upbeat patriotic songs on Trump's rallies.

They just sing along the chorus and to hell with the rest.
