I think I'm hung up on trying to understand certain people in my life because they have always refused to understand me.

So maybe if I can let go of the need to be understood by them, I can let go of some of the burden of trying to understand things I can't.

Like, at the end of the day, my older siblings are never going to believe or listen to me, because they have already decided I am wrong before I even open my mouth.

They're ultra-committed to their beliefs so they really can't even hear me out.

It's been like this our whole lives though...me just struggling desperately to be heard & understood & them just not fucking interested in that. With them, I feel like I am as good as voiceless because I can't be heard.

But just like you can't make someone change, you can't make someone listen.

You can't make them accept the sincerity in your words or follow along with your reasoning.

If people don't want to understand you, there sometimes isn't actually much you can do about it.
