@benroyce @davefischer @petko
Imagine the CAM, inputs and feedstocks for a single-serving downloadable car. You could damage the biosphere at the scale of a small town specializing in re-chroming bumpers just for your single car. The absolutely insane thing? Somebody in a hot tub with some billionaires is talking about this on some trippy drug or other. They have a buddy in Long Beach with connections to Harbor Freight Tools that says they can package the whole thing w/ CNC, etc. for $250,000. -
@petko
Now all she needs is a parrot and a peg leg! -
@petko Accurate.
-
@petko 'oh no, people these days have no moral! no one thinks of the poor share holders children, who cry in their multi million sports cars!'
-
@petko Ever since I sailed the good ship Torrent, I've never looked back.

-
Artafernes @assimilateborg @petko Not at all, just don't download torrents directly, use a bit torrent client like qbit torrent or bitlord, it provides a bit of a security buffer, but you still have to know what not to download, what looks suspicious and such.
-
@petko OMG THIS IS ME
-
@petko pretty much this. Kids these days won't understand the level of freedom we have.
-
@petko the kids arrrrr alright

Been sailing the seas for around 30 yrs now. Will occasionally support a creator directly, but never corporations.
Copyright laws and patents are just ways for the rich to gatekeep access. They should be abolished altogether.
I mean, the European colonists also didn't give a fuck about copyright when they traveled across the globe, stealing left and right. And many of today's rich, who are whining about patents and copyright, have built their wealth on past thefts and exploitations to begin with.

i'm still waiting for downloadable cars so i can in fact "steal" them and make their moronic analogy whole
@benroyce @davefischer @petko "stealing" a movie is NOT like stealing a bicycle.
It's more like sitting down next to where your bike is locked up and taking measurements and enough photos to build an exact copy. They have theirs when it is finished, and you still have yours. Someone wanting simply to copy my bike could get all kinds of useful tips and construction tips simply by asking!

@petko Nobody can be a pirate if nobody has a hard drive or RAM.

@benroyce @davefischer @petko Given that they’re enshittifying cars, too. Yeah, I’d download a car and I’d jailbreak that motherfucker!
-
@petko Already gone back to it and finally cought up on the latest 3 series of Always Sunny which I couldn’t even find a streaming service for! Also going to catch up on Air Crash Investigation which again been impossible to source for about a decade now! Can’t even buy it!

-
@benroyce @davefischer @petko yea and what I love about it is that it was literally made for them, but even despite that they failed to properly license it. these companies only care about money, and would happily shank you in the back if you so much as glance away, it would appear
@anthropy @benroyce @davefischer @petko
They stole that font as well.

@benroyce @davefischer @petko I remember when VCRs weren't criminalized.
-
Hahaha, yes! And they wonder why things go the way they do.
-
@anthropy @benroyce @davefischer @petko
They stole that font as well.
@SuperMoosie @anthropy @davefischer @petko
searching...
OH MY FUCKING GOD
you're right! that too
the music and the font, stolen
fucking hypocritical assholes
“You wouldn’t steal a car” anti-piracy campaign may have used pirated fonts
Digging into archived site points to use of questionable text styling.

@petko Whenever I hear people complaint about people pirating from billionaires or big companies, I'm always reminded of this quote from South Park: 'Man must learn to think of these horrible outcomes before he acts selfishly, or else, I fear… recording artists will be forever doomed to a life of only semi-luxury'
-
@petko I'll take purchase, thank you. Not that you can actually purchase and own much of anything anymore.
