U.S. Congress members urge Canada to deal with wildfire smoke ruining their summer

We’ve purposly lit all these fires just to ruin their summer, totally intentional, I swear it.
That’s 70% tariff for you!!!

The forest fire thing is a combination of stuff not just global warming. Our forests have evolved to burn down And we have been preventing it for decades. Now we have forests with tons of deadfall and drier conditions die to global warming. They are going to be bigger and hotter fires.
I’ve heard Pine monoculture is a contributor. Spruce is more fire resistant, and Pine beetles make kindling. Natural forests have a mix of Pine and Spruce.

American fires
Canadians: hey we’re gonna help you out!
Canadian fires
Americans: You’re ruining our summer!
It’s the American way.

Pine beetles make kindling?

Pine beetles make kindling?
Kill the tree making it more flammable.

Have you tried sweeping your forests, I remember that was the issue in California. /s

U.S. Congress members press Canada to deal with wildfire smoke ruining their summer
A lack of forest management and arson control is causing blazes that release hazardous fumes drifting into the Midwest, their letter reads

It is working
Interestingly 24% of Canadians have a favorable view of the US and 87% of Americans have a favorable view of Canadians. Thats a 63% mismatch, and it was trending way down even before trump.
Anger, betrayal and anxiety: Canadians say they’re ready to fight back after tariffs drive views of U.S. to new low - Canadians ready to fight back
The article finds Canadians ready to fight back — 55% say they feel angry, most back counter-tariffs, and few oppose retaliation.
Angus Reid Institute (angusreid.org)
Canada hates us, but it's not all Trump's fault. : It's Been a Minute
The stereotype is that Canadians are kind, but they by and large do not take kindly to President Trump's idea of making Canada our 51st state. As of April, two-thirds of Canadians considered the U.S. to be "unfriendly" or an "enemy," and 61% say they have started boycotting American companies. However, Canadian dislike and distrust of the U.S. is not new. Canadian views of the U.S. have trended down for decades, from a high of 81% of Canadians holding favorable views of the U.S. under Clinton in the '90's, to hovering in the 50-60% range in the aughts, to only 24% favorable as of March. Meanwhile, 87% of Americans view Canada favorably. There's a huge mismatch there. So what's behind these decades of resentment? How does culture play into it? And what does it mean for our politics that our nations have fundamentally different ideas about our relationship to one another? Brittany discusses with Scaachi Koul, senior writer at Slate, and Jon Parmenter, associate professor of history at Cornell.

We as humans have only ourselves to blame for these wildfires. We’re pushing this planet to it’s limits and it’s only going to keep getting worse.
Nah, don’t you read the newspapers? Global warming is fake. If it were real, why does it get cold still?
