Controls never felt good to me on steam deck. I hope this fixes that

From what I’ve heard the in-game default bindings and stick sensitivity are ass, but you can change them at least.

What’s so hard for devs to just ask someone using a controller to come up with a few good default profiles? idk.

    Still, good news.

Considering the game is coming to consoles this is probably just a first attempt so they can polish it for the console launch.

I love it, but I feel the endgame really needs some work.

Rather than launching one spaceship once, there should be a prestige plus where you manufacture space ships. As it is there’s no incentive to scale the automation for spaceship parts.

I’ve been waiting for controller support for a while and it’s about as good as I could have asked for. Tons of QoL features too!

I also feel nuclear and the other related ‘fuel rod’ types need adjustment to make them worthwhile as currently to get rid of waste it’s a negative sum in the end aka it costs more energy to produce then you get out of the loop. Especially since you can collect somersloops and completely negate most end game energy needs.

Really having trouble getting into satisfactory. Im used to DSP and Factorio, where its a grid system, and easy to scale up.

You can start crafting foundations to build on a grid pretty early on in the game, but as a Factorio player I also tried building straight on the ground in my first save and that was pretty annoying. But then you realize that foundations are pretty cheap and you can just cover a huge area and basically ignore terrain.

To me scaling isn’t strictly harder than in Factorio, it’s just different. Being able to utilize the third dimension and build ad-hoc layers ( or spaghetti 😛 ) where needed is awesome, I like the additional “modularity”

Yea, I’m still early, but the onboarding feels more rough, so I haven’t got as far as with the others.

My DSP Save has like 200 hours (lots of it AFK to grind some avhivments, and factorio is like 300+

Not sure if you are aware, but foundations give you a grid system to use. A lot of players will build foundations up high, and build on a large, floating platform. I came from Factorio, and I actually really liked the factory size/shape constraints in Satisfactory, as it doesn’t let me use the same design solution for every resource node. Some places trains can easily get to, others require trucks to get the resources to where the train can pick them up, and others still require drones. I felt like in factorio, I could use the systems I came up with early throughout the entire game, and the only thing I needed to change was how to pump resources into my factory and scaling up my defense system.

Honestly just pile up containers in a cave and store the waste there. It’s highly unlikely you’ll run out of storage before winning the game.

Yeah I guess the onboarding also felt somewhat disorienting to me too, it felt like everything was simpler than Factorio but it still didn’t make a lot of sense - power generation for example, like do I really need to collect this much grass?

My advice is to try to forget what you learned in Factorio and be a new Engineer. You know, splitters now divide into 3, it’s a brand new world x)

Oh, god, the biofuel grind was so painful in the begining, at least until you actually get BIOFUEL.

Once im done my Pacific Drive playthrough, ill take another bash at it.

There are community profiles on steam for input mapping, so the pipeline exists already.

Right but that’s partially my point. They put those energy types in the game with complete production lines meaning they do want you to have those as options. I used to horde waste in a ‘nuclear pit’ in one of my previous playthrough, but that’s obviously not the best route and isn’t Fixit approved! Silly lore aside though would just be nice to have fun setting up all that and it be a teeny bit worth it.
