It’s funny everyone so far has called the character a fursona. Is the main purpose behind a fursona to try and be the fictional character? To hide yourself behind a constructed façade? To be swaddled in blankets of paracosm and derealization?
These are only half-rhetorical questions. I don’t understand furries or fursonas.

The trick is to play characters who are just worse versions of you, who compensate with an Axe or dragon grandma.

Live long enough to have multiple characters, across multiple IPs and games. Then you can be pretty close to being any one of a multitude of people.
Or, be a failed English major who likes to create characters but can’t figure out what to do with them.

Yeah, people that want to be their D&D characters are probably skewed by happy memories of a world that might occassionally challenge them but ultimately wants them to enjoy themselves and be the hero/protagonist.
That is to say, a fantasy world.
