So I had a region in my old #PF2e game which was called "Hardchurch Manor".
The idea of this was that a century or so ago, Baron Hardchurch the Elder had ruled a nearby fortress town as well as being a powerful landowner, but his son Hardchurch the Younger delved into forbidden lore.
Once Elder died, Younger inherited the estates, but the town wanted nothing to do with them. Being very legalistic they established boundaries, so now the town cannot interfere beyond a certain point.

I say this because I am thinking of doing #dungeon26 and "Gormenghast but a megadungeon" was a thing I thought of. Hardchurch Manor could be that. It's out in the forests and has been there for a hundred years; it has some but limited connection with areas outside it; internally it's chaotic and nobody really rules it as such, so factions, levels, whatever.
