Small business owners are one of the most reliable fascist voting blocs because they all seem to think with the right tax cuts and a Republican sugar daddy in office that they, too, can become billionaires.

And if nothing else, many of them are such petty little tyrants. Kind of like cops. Or HOA people.

Like, the demographics of who turns fascist are so extremely obvious. It's always exactly who you would expect.

@gwynnion I've also discovered that those folks who either say…
• You're overreacting
• You're blinded by your partisanship
• Let's just agree to disagree…are also in the fascist demo.

@gwynnion The small business owner things clicked for me with: what they really want is employees to boss around.
Owning a small business is risky, requires huge barriers to get started, is a ton of work. Is it to get rich? It's not like these people are trying to become the next Apple in their garage when they open a fast food franchise. It's not hard to sketch out much better paths to wealth if that's what you want.
But what better way to get 20-somethings to do whatever you say?

Fascists are people who crave power over others by any means because dominance and cruelty make them feel better about themselves.
There's like a black hole inside of them where their self-respect, humility, and empathy should be.
The lower their self-perceived social status, the more virulently aggressive they tend to be.
But even at the top, they tend to be pathetic losers underneath the wealth and influence they've accreted to themselves.

@gwynnion There are a number of ‘American Myths’ that once served to enhance the American experience. Think of ‘anyone can succeed’ or ‘rugged individualism’. These myths or maybe stories we told ourselves don’t make quite as much sense in a predominantly Urban and highly secular Christian America. Nevertheless, as a nation we hold to them tightly even if few of us are cowboys or Puritans.

They’re also the ones who were most likely participating in the J6 insurrection.
The irony is they are the group that Democrats are going hardest after.
