Eh, I have no problem with being skeptical about fantastic elements of folk tales - in fact, I express my skepticism all the time when discussing them.

It is highly interesting and also disturbing how many contortions were made to conceal an ancient motif that existed even before Christianity (and in other religions): the nurturing goddess.
