Eh, I have no problem with being skeptical about fantastic elements of folk tales - in fact, I express my skepticism all the time when discussing them.

Best example is the "Virgin" Madonna: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nursing_MadonnaIt is highly interesting and also disturbing how many contortions were made to conceal an ancient motif that existed even before Christianity (and in other religions): the nurturing goddess.
