      @jetton one more appalling act by immigration authorities. The whole bad mouthing immigrants stuff is wrong, of course, and does encourage acts like these.

        @jetton

        every time i think i can't be shocked anymore by how terrible these people are, i'm shocked again

        let me get this straight, Karen called the cops on a blind man who stumbled into her yard, claimed his walking stick was a weapon which the cops could see perfectly well wasn't but they tortured & arrested him, then released him alone in winter in f'n Buffalo

        charge them all w/ manslaughter, inc. the Karen who called the cops in the 1st place

            Nurul Amin Shah Alam was a Rohingya refugee from Burma.
            He had been granted refugee status by the US government.
            Blind and speaking no English, in February 2025 he accidentally wandered into a neighbor's yard.
            She called the police, who tasered him, beat him up, and arrested him.
            After being held in jail for over a year, he was finally released on bail after agreeing to plead guilty to trespassing and possessing a weapon (a curtain rod he used as a walking stick).

              @jetton from the article the guardian article links two: A spokesperson for Border Patrol, in a statement Wednesday evening, said after agents determined Shah Alam was not supposed to be in their custody, they “offered him a courtesy ride, which he chose to accept to a coffee shop.” That Tim Hortons, the spokesperson said, was “determined to be a warm, safe location near his last known address, rather than be released directly from the Border Patrol station.” “He showed no signs of distress, mobility issues, or disabilities requiring special assistance,” the spokesperson said in the statement.

              WTF???? Boy I sure wonder if maybe he didn’t seem stressed because he couldn’t see or speak English and had no idea what was going on…

                      You don't have to denigrate the name of innocent women and girls. There are already plenty of nouns and adjectives to describe shitty acts and behavior.

                          @Halaana Again, you don't have to bully people named Karen. If being a bully is something you enjoy, I'm not sure what moral high ground you think you're standing on exactly.
