@juergen_hubert I wonder why they put in that he was greedy and that he soiled himself when dying. It doesnt seem to have any relevance to the rest of the story. Just for extra background?

They were signs that there was something "wrong" with him, and that he was predisposed to become a revenant.

@juergen_hubert yes, but we dont get how and why those specific things are relevant. They just seem so random. Unless there is some cultural context that was lost.

Each region had its own superstitions about what might cause someone to come back as a revenant. In other regions, the trigger was being born with a caul, for instance.
