    1/ The mountain landscapes of Tyrol hide a lot of folk tales, and there are a lot of collections showcasing them. My favorite among these is "Mythen und Sagen Tirols" by Johann Nepomuk von Alpenburg. Not because it's the most scholarly or comprehensive, but because the author makes sure to always insert his own voice into the commentary - something I also try to do with my own work, and thus appreciate greatly.

      2/ Here are some of his tales which I have translated. They range from mountain demons and miracle doctors, the "Blessed Maidens" that guard the chamois, to horrible spider monsters and altar bread used as a black magic cybernetic implant.
