@stux I recently heard an outspoken critic (comparative) compliment an actress who had previously gotten loads and loads of crap in a movie that was received very badly. (And also pointing out that it surprised him, despite his previous harsh criticism in other areas concerning her.)

Not all critics are unreasonable even considering "favorable circumstances", even if it might seem like it.
