@stux I think in school - more about WW1, and at home from grandparents about the second one...

@stux I think so, but it is a little bit difficult to distinguish what I was taught at school and what I've heard from my grandparents, whom all four had their stories. Not the most pleasant ones.

@stux I'll also add my maternal granddad was a surgeon during WW1.. after the war he gave up being a surgeon for being a doctor with.."I've seen enough blood and guts to last a few lifetimes" Paternal GD was infantry in Africa and a great uncle died.
My dad flew Hurricans and then Typhoons, even mentioned in a "typhoon book" while my mum was a nurse..

So I got a lot more than skool taught me, although none wanted to talk too much about the horrors of war.

@stux learned only about WW II, probably because the teacher had personally experienced it.

Only when I moved to Belgium did I learn that the Great War has been a lot more impactful for a lot of people.

@stux Doesn’t this poll have a bit of Dunning- Krueger in it? Lol. In the US I would think those answering Yes would not know if what they learned was a superficial censored US positive biased framing or not.

@stux mostly WW2, and thanks to a strongly encouraged teacher who still had active memories on the last war years as a child, we also learned a lot about the time in between the wars and the rise of fascism, although this was not encouraged by the curriculum.
As I'm German, it was strongly focused on German politics.
