Copy-paste a folder will dramatically increase and downcrease speed and sometimes just stops at 0 for some time
Only 11GB of the 64GB RAM is used
Oh and yes I know, "Windows" but it's for a reason.. Unreal Engine crashes the least on Windows compared to other OS'es
@stux Do you have the total stop in enumerating a directory that has been on your machine for months, but has grown to over 500 items.
Move the directory away, then move it back. and instant enumeration again.
for about a month. Ridiculous.

@stux Do you know why Windows copies, especially between drives or partitions, are so horribly slow and just stop or freeze in-between? I could not find a satisfying answer to that yet

@stux Its my "temp" folder, every time I need space to dump some stuff (usually individual items) it goes in there, before moving elsewhere. Item goes in, look for it from another app, no there. Go in via explorer, does the "scanning" thing for a "month" sometimes it reappears some time not.
I have this on two machines one win 10 one win 11.

Nope.
Unreal for Linux changed from Rocky9 to Ubuntu 24.04 as recommended system and since then it works great.
I am running UE5.5.4 on Linux Mint 22.1 on two systems and I have zero crashes. -

Nope.
Unreal for Linux changed from Rocky9 to Ubuntu 24.04 as recommended system and since then it works great.

But so often i miss binaries for Linux, Mac already is missing a lot
These days i try to avoid using plugins for that reason

@stux It probably wants you to sign in with your Microsoft account. Remember to upgrade it with XBox Game Pass for extra bandwidth. Oh, and if you still own a Zune, you get grandfathered into the Plus tier. /s

but often needed for higher res stuff

@stux imagine that windows is the only comfortable OS that I could use.
btw unreal engine?
that's one of the worst engines in terms of game quality.
especially in terms of accessibility, you have to spend more time on screenreader support for example, than even in unity, while godod is even better because they're actually trying to put accessibility straight into the engine. -
@stux @Extelec I've noticed windows chokes hard on copying a large number of small files. I think it's a CPU limit rather than disk speed or RAM? Especially to like a USB disk or over the network where there is encryption.
... this probably won't help... but I used to zip up files into a single archive before copying it to a new location.
