Do I miss something?
Google's biggest income is selling ads and with their search engine people see sponsored links but also on the pages they visit are often Google ads that make Google money
With their new AI search, the average click per scrape is now ~1/1500 so a lot less people are clicking on search links but use the AI summary
How does Google not shoot itself in the foot with this money hungry AI that destroys search traffic?

@stux It doesn't have to make money now. It will advise us when we're buying things by being already in our life. I think they're counting on that making them a lot more money than you are currently thinking of.

@stux I'm sure they are, but it's slow enough that the top manglement aren't going to make the connection.
Or, if they have made the connection, they reckon they can last out long enough to screw another few billion out of the process before moving on to something else just as pointless with another set of suckers to fleece.

@stux People are doing more searches now to get the ‘AI’ answers in stead of leaving the search page to other sites. So more ads and sponsored links on their own pages.
