...Apparently 4Chan got hacked and the site is down?

...Apparently 4Chan got hacked and the site is down? Some hacker somewhere leaked user info and showed the site hasn't been updated in eight years so it's got -- it HAD -- massive security holes
so it's just GONE now?
That's hilarious

See, the nice thing about 4Chan dying is that when conspiracy sites go down, what MOSTLY happens to the users is they drop out of conspiracy circles. It's like a cult breaking up, most people just go back to whatever passed for a normal life, only SOME will actively seek out a new cult to join.
God I wish this had happened in 2015.

'Cos the thing is Qanon is mostly done at this point. Trump doesn't need them anymore, the mythology hasn't grown since the Great Disappointment at the end of the first Trump admin, and most hardcore conspiracy theorists are just straight up Nazis now anyway.
If this had happened in 2015, we might not have gotten a Trump presidency. At least, not in the same way, anyway.

@CactuarJoe okay but listen, if even a tenth to a fifth of Republicans go from orange kool-aid drinkers back to ~mavericks~, we might be able to start retrieving something approaching sanity
not saying it's ideal, but i'd fucking take it for a start

"But 4chan was where people leaked media stuff! Besides, I'm sure some decent people probably used it for some reason! And now those people will go to other social media sites!"
Man those reasons sounded stupid when it was people trying to justify not leaving Twitter, do you have any idea how stupid it sounds when we're talking about goddamn *4Chan*?
