This is the “my kid wants Nikes”. It isn’t about the Nikes specifically, they want to be in with their friend group. The kid wants to play Minecraft with their friends.

I think it’s okay to be an advocate for free and open source software and also buy Minecraft for your child. Their happiness is important too

@fujiwara@sakurajima.moe I won’t make any judgement on “price” because $30 for me is not the same as $30 for every family. But also, understand what your kid needs/wants over what it is you want.
Forcing your kid to play alone because you got all Stallman on their ass is basically asking them to have a resentful opinion of FOSS later in life.
