I told someone they could look at my shelves and borrow something and they got pretty annoyed at me.

When I moved here, I made the deliberate choice to only loosely organize my books (series and authors together, but that's it), and then just ... let them kinda freeflow around the shelves.

I rarely need to look for a specific old book, but when I do, I find the exercise of just ... exploring randomly through the shelves really invigorating. I have a lot of half-finished or 'bought for later' books, and It gets me to reconnect and pull them off the shelves.

But it does something fierce to the compulsive organized people.
