Apparently PNG files are supposed to be called as “Ping” files. Which is stupid. PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics. If we expand the initialism, we should use letters between the P and N words preferably in order. The next logical letter is “O”.
They should be pronounced as “Pong” files. -

They should be pronounced as “Pong” files.I suppose this is why everyone just says the initials : P-N-G files. No one wants to ping-pong between the names.
