You know, I feel like a class of users that get often gets left off of "Great for linux" is elderly people.99% of them just want their browser, email, and printer to work.

You know, I feel like a class of users that get often gets left off of "Great for linux" is elderly people.
99% of them just want their browser, email, and printer to work. Many of them don't know how to use Windows anyways. Most of them don't care about ultra modern machines. Most of them are not playing games. They're not mucking with the system. If something breaks, You were going to be the one to fix it anyways.
I had my dad set up on an LTS Ubuntu machine that I refurbished. Just created some short cuts and hooked up his printer. Worked great for years.
Office is about the only thing you find friction on, and usually some combo of libreoffice + google office gets the job done.
