As someone living alone, shopping and cooking are a constant nightmare.
* The grocery and cooking world is built around units of 2. I'm constantly fighting waste because the economics and packaging sizes are often overwhelming for one person.
* Because of the first bullet, you often get stuck eating the same god-damn thing to the point of exhaustion, or you have to get constantly creative.
* Because of the above; you have to carefully plan what you make, unless you want to watch stuff go bad before you can get to it. Just added mental burden.
* The only break is eating out, which is unhealthy and expensive. Also it's kinda weirdly ...frowned upon to go out eating alone at a normal restaurant.
* Cooking for 2N people is often only a little more effort than cooking for 1. So comparatively, you waste a lot more time than a unit cooking food. This is somewhat true with dishes, too.
* Eating with others helps you regulate intake; It's very easy to overeat.
* No break for dishes and cleaning.
* I like cooking for others. I get zero joy for doing it for myself.
It just completely sucks.
