Well, Call of Cthulhu was fun, but Jesus Christ some players are bad at investigation games.
One player said “Those guys are definitely carrying out a conspiracy” and despite prodding, the party proceeded to ask nothing about what they were doing, what their background was, or anything of that nature. It took half a night of being spooked and hunted down one-by-one that convinced them maybe they should listen in on a conversation.
I think the most frustrating thing as a GM is the passivity of players; when they just sit back and wait for stuff to happen or to be told where to go. Com’on! Do things! -

@NullNowhere @Xenograg Are the players new to TTRPGs?
@ramsey@phpc.social @Xenograg@dice.camp no, not at all. But we’re currently working through them not being such … adults as characters.
By which I mean: they’re very much in the mould of “let the authorities handle it, let’s not risk it, etc”
I’ve been playing with them for a bit. They’re one of the most risk adverse groups I’ve ever met, even when I almost always reward them for being daring. It’s a source of much pain.
