@atomicpoet@atomicpoet.org Star Wars Outlaws being a buggy Ubisoft game backfired. It was full of savefile breaking glitches at launch. I received a free copy after those bugs were fixed and still didnt want it just because I don't want anything ftom Ubisoft ever again.

It's hard to say but I think Concord might have been more successful if it wasn't on PC. Looked like a good console shooter to me and I nearly bought a PS5 for it even cos I'm starved of good FPS games. But the discourse was dominated by grumpy PC gamers who want hyper fast paced shooters, which I'm sure cut into potential PS5 version sales.

Haven't paid much attention to Highguard since I sold my xbox and it won't run in Proton, but I heard people who like it were asking for some more gamemodes and maps and they're starting to address that. IDK what all the outrage is about but I've heard some people point fingers at the PC gaming community for prefering to make outrage to ignoring a game they don't want, and it being mismarketed towards people who it wouldn't appeal to.

@KitsuneVixi The studio behind Highguard just laid off most of its staff so it’s unlikely much content will be coming for it.

People I know who played it said it wasn’t awful, just needed more work to see its potential. But apparently 2,400 concurrent players is simply not enough.

Players can’t be blamed if the studio’s going to pack up after a matter of weeks. People are willing to forgive bad launches if devs are willing to address feedback. Just look at No Man’s Sky.

Anyway, it’s not as though games of this ilk can afford to skip the PC market when investors demand so much scale.
