    You see, the problem with accepting every American refugee claimant, no questions asked, is that sometimes they lie.

    Take Antony Vo. A Jan 6 offender who fled to Canada instead of serving his sentence, then tried to frame it as “political persecution.”

    That’s my point. Not every claim is a person escaping real danger. Some are just people dodging consequences and trying to launder it through the refugee system.

    And there are others just like him.

        @Mikal @atomicpoet Not by a long shot.

        That said, we are getting a lot of good legitimate immigrants.

          @CStamp @atomicpoet

          I might apply to be one of them if you had deserts. 🌵😎 Still hoping Canada will annex the U.S. West Coast.

            @Mikal @atomicpoet Yikes. I could suggest Alberta, with its badlands, but it’s currently run by an insane GOP wannabe and behaving like Texas and Florida combined.

            But we do have other lovely landscape. 🙂

              Carolyn My camera shoots fascists Technically, there’s a big massive desert in Canada’s far north, but nobody lives there because it’s a cold desert.

              Also, there’s the Okanagan Desert in British Columbia. It’s not very big, but it’s unique. Has a lot of flora and fauna that are threatened of endangered. I don’t think a whole lot of extraction will be happening there.
