Before Dems retake the House and Senate in 2026, the excuse is "We want to pass this legislation, but we can't! GOP controls!"🀑

After Dems retake the House and Senate, the excuse will flip to "We want to pass this legislation, but we can't! These 3 senators/representatives voted with the GOP!"🀑

    πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒ

"Vote Blue, no matter who!"🀑 is a trap that y'all fall for again and again.

"What kind of Blue, is you?" Makes more sense.

Because some of these "I don't know how to fight" Dems, are really "I don't want to fight, because I agree with the GOP on this issue" Dems. They're playing games.

@donlamb_1 @mekkaokereke Real change will never happen in November. Real change can only be driven in the Primaries.

@donlamb_1 You're not helpless. The point is to stop trying things that obviously don't work. Don't give up just because no one on your ballot is worth voting forβ€”if there isn't a solution there, go a step earlier. There's always something upstream of the problem to work on. Hard work? Maybe. Unpleasant work? Likely, in politics. But it is necessary, and our duty. Most importantly, don't go it alone.

              πŸ’― !!!

A corollary to this is "Never speak ill of Dems, they are not the ones in power."

Well, the primaries are upon us. It is time to nominate better Dems, which means speaking ill of the ones who don't fight for us.

Don't vote for Dems that have shown their inability to get things done.

Don't donate to the Dems until they show they came get things done.

Don't stop demanding action from your leadership.

@mekkaokereke I agree with you! My problem, which I think is shared by many, is how do we fix it. More Republicans won’t fix it. 3rd party candidates that appeal to the left split the liberals and often end up putting an R in office. Often the only real choice is a Dem who won’t risk anything to fix things.

@jswright61 @mekkaokereke the answer is of course anarchism.

And I don't mean the "tear it all down" image people have of anarchism.

I mean the "order without hierarchy" anarchism. Where you stay on a small level, auto organizing, connecting with other people.

There is this thing called Fediverse. It's kind of an anarchistic thing...

                        People often ask me how to fix it, and my answer remains the same as it ever was. It's the same answer that Black Americans have given since the 50s. It's super simple;

                        1) Don't vote for the "Dem" candidates that Black people try to warn you about.

                        2) There is no step two.

"Split the liberals" is 100% of the problem. Because why are the liberals trying to put someone in office that will destroy Black people? Why is that not disqualifying?

I've shared on here lots of indisputable data that US cops treat Black people worse than ICE treats immigrants. In some cases, the harm done to Black people is 10x to 100x the scale. If someone ran as a Dem candidate, and proudly said "My parents were both ICE agents!🀑" they wouldn't get elected. But someone can say, "My parents were both cops in New Jersey in the 70s!🀑" as a campaign slogan? Do y'all have any idea what cops in New Jersey were doing to Black communities in the 70s?

When people say REALISTIC (all caps emphasis, yours), all Black people hear is "I refuse to accept that white liberals not being racist, is realistic."

This isn't complicated. At all. Y'all just like to pretend that it is.

"Primary Dem politicians that push anti-Black policies. Support progressive candidates that reduce racism." is not complicated. It's not unrealistic. Dems just don't like it.

They'd rather risk fascism for everyone in the US, and eventually, the whole world... than push to reduce fascism for Black people even a little. So here we are. πŸ€·πŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ

                              Try this:

                              1) In your closest local elections in 2026 for Senate or House, who is the Dem candidate that is the most anti-racist?

                              2) What have you done to make sure that that candidate wins the primary, and then the election? Donate? Call? Knock doors? Talk to friends and family?

Before Dems retake the House and Senate in 2026, the excuse is "We want to pass this legislation, but we can't! GOP controls!"🀑

After Dems retake the House and Senate, the excuse will flip to "We want to pass this legislation, but we can't! These 3 senators/representatives voted with the GOP!"🀑

@mekkaokereke More concretely: fight in the primaries.

When people say REALISTIC (all caps emphasis, yours), all Black people hear is "I refuse to accept that white liberals not being racist, is realistic."

This isn't complicated. At all. Y'all just like to pretend that it is.

@jswright61@ruby.social People often ask me how to fix it, and my answer remains the same as it ever was. It's the same answer that Black Americans have given since the 50s. It's super simple; 1) Don't vote for the "Dem" candidates that Black people try to warn you about.

@donlamb_1 @mekkaokereke Mutual aid. Direct action. Coordinated pressure on reps (letters, calls, visits).

Based on how many I hear speaking up, I would guess Dems have about 7 lawmakers.

Any Dem not speaking up is failing at the hour we need them.

We need to stop asking Black people to vote for Dems and start asking Dems to attract the Black vote.

Opposition has an effect and when opposition fails, the other side gets to be at their worst.
