When one of us left the house, the other would have to distract him. If he saw me cycling away, he'd run along the pavement excitedly. He would have happily followed me the 12 miles to work, loving every second
I don't believe in ghosts, but I make an exception for Norbert. He is with me everywhere I go, sitting on my shoulder, still fascinated by the world

@oldkephalus I know what you mean. I've told my cats that they have to live forever - no arguments
@rufustheduck @oldkephalus we seem to specialise on cats with FIV, so age is not the only limiting factor.
But I’d rather they not suffer just for sticking around in corporeal form a bit longer. The poem from https://toot.mirbsd.org/@mirabilos/statuses/01KFVQCZWB4YD6S9VCHH7PEP02 (needs Fedi client, not a browser) helps a bit. And there’s room in one’s heart for multiple cats. All different. And I’m sure they’ll stick around ethereally, as they grew to be family members.
