    Copy that! I have the same experience.

    Some people I was able to find in the #fediverse, a significant number of people I lost track of, found new interesting accounts to follow and a segnificant number of new accounts I follow are surprisingly high quality. I might even say that posts are better, more balanced and more in-depth than what I was used to on #twitter. The #algorithms on a lot of platforms tend to push clickbait and don't do quality posts justice.

    Thankfully #mastodon does not have an #algorithm. Instead, you yourself decide what your timeline will look like by following accounts and hashtags. Non-relevant and clickbaity posts are not pushed in your face like the algorithms do on other platforms.

      Awesome! I would recommend an extra step: remove the "share on X" button from the OpenMedia's website.

        A word here on:
        1. why it is so difficult to leave collapsing platforms;
        2. why we're making this decision today;

          I think it's time we revisit the editorial protection of social media, particularly with respect to algorithmic promotion. With improved AI, platforms are no longer passive hosts; they actively curate and shape content at scale. There are no shortage of evidence to support this.
          If a platform can shown to exhibit bias that bias is editorial and therefore the owner subject to libel or publication of illegal material.

                    @OpenMediaOrg To everyone making snarky "why didn't you do this earlier" comments, please learn this rule: "Do not punish the behaviour you want to see" (tumblr.com/ingridverse/1702233…)
                    OpenMedia has left X. That is good. We want more people to leave X. OpenMedia spent time and effort to write a blog post announcing their move, which will encourage others to leave X as well. That is very good. We want people encouraging others to leave X.
                    But now, when people look at this post, and see so many "what took you so long"-type comments, they may say, "I don't want to deal with that negativity". OpenMedia's blog post may convince them to leave X, but they'll do so quietly. We'll have fewer blog posts encouraging others to leave X. We'll have fewer announcements saying "I've left X, you should too". The message won't reach as many people.
                    If you want more people to say "I've left X, you should too", then don't be part of the reason that doesn't happen.

                          @jfmezei X engagement is near zero for anything in our experience. We'll see how Mastodon engagement goes with higher membership, but on Bsky we have equiv engagement to X with 1/10 the followers.

                                    @OpenMediaOrg I never used that digital ID-ridden, social credit score-infested, slop-infected craphole either, and neither did my producer. Fantastic decision anyway.

                                      @OpenMediaOrg @deborahh Excellent decision. It is time for everyone to stand up for what they believe in and stop supporting abusive and toxic platforms.

                                      @Em0nM4stodon As long as we're not in a religious cult that leads to Roman Catholicism (which every Christian denomination, Muslim school of thought, and Jewish sect is forked from).

                                      Otherwise, those Catholic dirtbags can continue to use platforms that will ultimately result in their untimely demise.
