@themipper Right now SolarPunk is sci-fi adjacent, but with a little common sense and help, it can become reality!

@themipper Anything new, applicable, and technologically pragmatic. The last authors I had seen were working on aesthetics mostly, so I didn't pay too much attention - but the tech in real world has become a curriculum for me. Mostly company start ups - scaleable solutions to energy demands. Polar Nights from Finland. NovelTherm from CA. ExoWatt in US. Grid scale tech that is repeatable at pico and micro levels. Sorry - little over focused.

@themipper @enriquericos The Monk and Robot series by Becky Chambers fit this category, I think.

@themipper I recommend A Half-Built Garden by Emrys! It's a really lovely and wholesome climate utopia, and it's set in a not-too-distant future which makes it much more concrete and grounded.

It also stands out for having a world that is still kind of messy. For the most part, they've gotten rid of capitalism and the nation-state, but it's kind of like monarchy is today - figureheads and enclaves remain whilst most of the world has (effectively) moved on. It's some really rich world-building. πŸ’œ
