    No one really talks about the physical cost of being pale.

    You step outside and the sun immediately declares war.

    I burn like a lobster in under 30 minutes—even with sunscreen. Lots of it.

    And the funny thing is—I’m not even Irish white.

    By European standards, I’m dark. People mistake me for Italian or Spanish all the time.

    But apparently, that’s still too pale for the sun.

    It sees me and just goes, “Close enough.”
