@FlashMobOfOne I like to knit something with a very simple pattern, like a scarf knitted in the round (so it's all knit stitches) or something like the Claopotis pattern where it's easy to remember what to do (the markers help you keep track of where you are). It's not as "mindless," but it also doesn't take a lot of brainpower to play an instrument that you're familiar with. That might not be as productive as what you're looking for, though. I like it because it's a different skill set; I feel like it activates a different part of my brain.
