The native seed event I signed up for hasn't happened yet due to the government being shut down. It was supposed to be back on the 9th.I don't know if they will do it after things open back up. I guess that will depend on timing. But I'm going to do it at home. I have a bunch of native seeds and I'm going to scatter them in a largely unused flower bed at my home. I may even scatter some on the grass strip between the sidewalk and the street. We'll see if any of them take. #NativePlants #Gardening

I'm signed up to help with a native seeding project next month. It's sponsored by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF).A friend of mine heard about it and we're going to go together. I think it will be about 20 people with hand-crank seed broadcasters. We'll be spreading seeds that support local pollinators.I'm excited about it. I'm glad that my tendon issue (while still painful) has calmed down enough that I feel I can do this. Our event is not until later, but it looks like some places are doing things this weekend.https://www.neefusa.org/what-we-do/conservation/national-public-lands-day#NativePlants

#InsectSaturday We have been seeing bad news about the decline of insect populations. But building back some of that insect habitat is not difficult. And scientists say it's necessary! If you have a garden, check out this simple organizer which will help you support any local butterfly population. I used an example from my garden. It's in my new blog, Habitat Gardeninghttps://write.as/habitat-gardening/how-you-can-build-back-butterfly-habitatBonus seasonal tips and recommended resource. Let's bring out more butterflies!#HabitatGardening #BiodiversityGardening #Gardening #NativePlants #Nature #Environment
