I like the analysis of retroclones and the whole OSR scene that came into the review. Matt Finch, the author behind OSRIC, also wrote the OD&D retroclone that was the first system I GMed, Swords and Wizardry.I am really enjoying Issue 69 of Uncanny Magazine, the March/April 2026 issue. In particular, I really enjoyed the story Chimera by Anjali Sachdeva. It’s got a certain parental gut punch moment in it in the best of ways.Edge of Humanity Magazine published a photo essay by Patrick O’Brien on the subject of Seattle. The photos are excellent and give me such nostalgia for my hometown.Lock In by John Scalzi, along with 1500 other books have been banned by the New Braunfels, Texas schools. Including texts required for the AP Literature exam! (The required books that are bamned will be relegated to a special section you must show current enrollment in AP Lit to enter.) Like, oh no, some kid might decide they like Shelley or Brontë or Austen or Morrison when they aren’t properly registered as a nerd.
